After 10 years and 531 shows presenting on Solar radio I have decided to call it a day and take a break from radio broadcasting with tonight’s show 30th July being my last for a while.

I have thoroughly enjoyed having the opportunity to play the music I love to an appreciative audience.

Beginning as the ‘The Soul Cellar’ in June 2004 on a Tuesday evening, a subsequent name change to ‘Rare grooves modern soul’, a brief time on Sunday mornings and then the current Wednesday evening slot, the show has always tried to bring a quality selection of music with a main focus on the 70s and 80s but in more recent years I have delved into the 60s and occasionally the 90s to supplement the content. It has always been a very personal selection, I just play the music I like.

It has been a massive learning curve for me, along the way I have learnt so much about the music I love and met so many people with so much knowledge to share.

I must thank the guests who have contributed to the show – Tomas Boyou, Dave Huggett, Kevin Oxberry, Mark Piggott, Graham Rule, Paul Thrower, the Wakefield City Soul Club (Chris, Gary, Martin, Moira, Shaun, John, Chappie) who all brought many a quality tune to fill the air ways, and to Nicolas Drossos, a listener from Greece, who has sent me his ‘discoveries’ to feature on the show.

I must also thank the Solar radio management and in particular Keith Renton and Tony Monson for giving me both the opportunity and the platform to deliver the show.

And finally a special thanks to you the audience who listened to the show each week
